Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham Full Movie Download is a 2001 Indian drama film directed by Karan Johar, with a screenplay written by him and his mother, Hiroo Johar. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in lead roles. The film was simultaneously released in India and the United States on 23 November 2001. The movie is an adaptation of writer Jhumpa Lahiri's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Interpreter of Maladies (1999). It tells the story of three Indians who are brought together by destiny to change each others lives profoundly. The film's title was taken from these lines by Faraz in the Faiz Ahmad Faiz poem "Aik Ghalati Aik Taj" (One Rainy Day, One World). The film was released to generally positive reviews; however, it failed commercially. The movie begins with a quote by Rabindranath Tagore: Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (English: Sometimes Happiness Sometimes Sorrow) is the story of three Indian individuals who are brought together because of destiny, and change each other's lives profoundly. The central character is Raj Malhotra (Shah Rukh Khan), an Indian stockbroker living in New York City. He is the only son of a wealthy Indian father, Arun Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan), and a privileged but domineering mother, Nandita (Jaya Bachchan). Arun is a self-made man who has built up an empire in plastics. Raj's parents have arranged for him to marry a young woman named Meera (Simran Bagga) in India. On the way to visit his family in India, he meets Sonia (Kajol), an Indian-American woman working as a tour guide at the Taj Mahal, and falls hopelessly in love with her. On his way back, he calls Meera to request an annulment of their marriage, telling her that he is in love with someone else. Upon his return to New York, Raj tells his father about the annulment and about his love for Sonia. After speaking with Sonia on the phone, Arun decides that she would be an ideal daughter-in-law and encourages Raj to marry her instead. However, Raj is in love with Sonia and refuses to marry Meera. Arun then travels to New York in an attempt to convince Raj otherwise, but when he discovers that Raj has no intention of marrying Meera or anybody else, he disowns him. Raj is left with no alternative but to return to India, despite his love for Sonia. On the plane, he meets an unusually taciturn physician named Faraz (Aamir Khan), who immediately confides in him that he is traveling alone to India after being disowned by his father. Raj tries to convince Sonia that they are meant to be together, but when she refuses his proposal, he resigns himself to the idea of marrying Meera. He returns home with Meera and her family in tow, but on their wedding day, he takes Sonia aside and confesses his undying love for her.
